Light-Painting Photography Workshops
I started the Sublument project in 2017 to explore the intriguing relationship between the human body and artificial light. Over the years I have learned that mastering long exposure requires deep practice in the field rather than just reading manuals. These workshops are my way of sharing the practical knowledge I gathered through countless nights spent experimenting in the cold.

What to Expect in the Field
We step out of the studio and into the night. My focus is always on integrating the human subject seamlessly with the surrounding landscape. During our sessions we dedicate time to understanding the location and balancing the ambient light with our hand-held tools.. The cover photograph on this page perfectly captures this dynamic approach.
Tools and Techniques
I bring a wide variety of tools including acrylic tubes and specialized fiber optics to each session. We experiment with them together so you can feel how different textures of light behave on the camera sensor. I remember the frustration of trial and error when I started out and my main goal is to save you those early struggles. As I often tell my students during our setup phase: "Light painting is a constant dialogue between the artist's intuition and the camera sensor".
It is incredibly rewarding to witness the exact moment a student understands the choreography required to paint a scene. We focus heavily on manual camera settings and timing..
